Skolemekling i Palestina

In 2004 the GUPT Ramallah took contact with NorPeace, and asked for our assistance to reduce the violence in schools. In response we invited teachers from the GUPT to Norway in the autumn of 2004, to show them a range of tools and methods for reducing violence and promoting constructive conflict management in use by Norwegian NGOs, and to discuss if/how we could assist them further. The resulting project to introduce peer to peer mediation in 5 pioneer schools has given excellent and far reaching results. There are 197 schools on the waiting list in Ramallah alone, more school offices wanting to join the project, and school mediation has been included as a tool in the Ministry of Education's 5-year School Plan from 2007.
